About
This document is a running collection of notes captured while focusing on independent type design research, and contemporary reconstructions, reinterpretations of seminal typefaces from the 20th century.
Informed by extensive research, the work aims to follow the guiding principle of staying as faithful as possible to the originals in spirit, while adjusting for some of the details that were either limitations of type technologies of the particular era, or stylistic flairs that did not prove to be timeless. Accompanying documentation emphasizes the background of each project, with an appropriate narration of the creative process.
Author
Ben M. Kucsan is a product designer. He has a passion for visual design, interaction design, product thinking, strategy, prototyping, typography, and cross-functional collaboration. While at Facebook, Reality Labs, and WhatsApp, Ben has led the design of features and products reaching a wide range of audiences on a global scale.
